A variety of unique cafes and pet cafes, that you can only find here exclusively in Hongdae, such as the Hello Kitty Cafe where everything, from the doors, interior design, and to the food served is Hello Kitty inspired; Banji Cafe, with an actual ring craft shop where customers have their customized jewelry made with different plating, engravings and with gemstones, while indulging in a cup of tea at the rooftop which also provides a scenic view; and Ho Ho Myoll which is a vintage cafe that serves the best coffee and latte, is also a best find where a real Volkswagen is parked right beside the entrance, adding up to the cozy vintage vibe, making it the best place for your instagrammable photos. Hongdae is also renowned for its street entertainment, where indie bands and performers come to showcase their music, wherein some of the rising bands used to start off with. Many live music venues and festivals are crowded by both tourists and locals. In fact, Hongdae is home to YG Entertainment, the biggest talent agency in Korea, who discovered some of its talents right in the streets of Hongdae. The Street Art Exhibition, founded by Hongik University’s Fine Arts students many years back, is also a hit attraction where people can enjoy kaleidoscopic paintings, graffitis, wall art and many more made by various artists. The ‘Hongdaeap Artmarket Freemarket’ is held on ‘Hongdae Playground’, that is in front of the main gate of Hongik University, which is promoted by a non-profit organization. This is where you can purchase art materials, artworks and handcrafts made by students and street artists. Hongdae is also known for its active night life, where you’ll go crazy selecting from a wide array of clubs.
Hongdae is also loved for its vintage clothing and fashion from independent clothing stalls.
