This Privacy Policy explains how Jungil Tour co. (“Jungil Tour”, “This is Korea Tours”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, stores and protects personal data when you visit our Website, send us an enquiry, or book a tour or transport service with us.
We are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”), the Korean Personal Information Protection Act (“PIPA”), and other applicable data protection laws. This policy describes those rights and how you can exercise them.
1. Who We Are (Data Controller)
The data controller responsible for your personal data is:
- Company: Jungil Tour co. (business name: This is Korea Tours)
- Country: Republic of Korea
- Email: thisiskoreabb@gmail.com
- WhatsApp: +82-10-8275-7750
For any question about this policy or about how we handle your data — including requests to exercise your rights — please contact us at the email address above and write “Privacy Request” in the subject line.
2. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to personal data we process through the Website, by email, by messaging apps (for example WhatsApp and KakaoTalk), and through our booking and tour operations. It does not apply to third-party websites that we link to, or to bookings you make through a separate booking platform (online travel agency, “OTA”), which processes your data under its own privacy policy.
3. Personal Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
a) Data you give us
- Name, email address, telephone / messenger ID, and country of residence
- Enquiry content: travel dates, group size, destinations, interests, and other details you send us
- Booking details: tour, date, pick-up location, hotel name, guide language, and vehicle requirements
- Special requirements you choose to share (for example dietary, mobility, or health-related requests that affect the tour), and the names of accompanying travellers where required for a reservation
- Correspondence with us by email, website form, or messenger
b) Payment data
- Payments are processed by third-party payment providers (for example PayPal) or by the OTA through which you booked. We receive confirmation of payment and limited transaction details, but we do not receive or store your full card number or payment credentials.
- If a refund is required, the amount and reason for the refund are recorded for accounting purposes.
c) Data collected automatically
- IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, language
- Pages visited, date and time of access, referring page, and approximate location derived from your IP address
- Cookie and analytics identifiers (see “Cookies and Analytics” below)
We do not intentionally collect sensitive data (for example health, religion, or political opinions). If you share such information with us so that we can arrange a tour safely, we use it only for that purpose and only with your consent.
4. Why We Use Your Data and Our Legal Bases
Under the GDPR we must have a legal basis for each use of your personal data:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Answering your enquiry, preparing a quotation, and creating a customised itinerary | Performance of a contract or steps taken at your request before a contract — Art. 6(1)(b) |
| Providing the tour: guide, vehicle, pick-up, tickets, and on-tour support | Performance of a contract — Art. 6(1)(b) |
| Payment, refunds, invoicing, and meeting accounting / tax obligations | Contract — Art. 6(1)(b); legal obligation — Art. 6(1)(c) |
| Customer service, handling complaints, and protecting legal claims | Legitimate interests — Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Website security, fraud prevention, and keeping the Website functional | Legitimate interests — Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Improving our Website and services through statistics | Consent — Art. 6(1)(a), where required (non-essential cookies / analytics) |
| Sending you offers or newsletters | Consent — Art. 6(1)(a); or legitimate interests for existing customers, with opt-out at any time |
You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
5. Cookies and Analytics
Our Website uses cookies and similar technologies. Strictly necessary cookies are required for the Website to work. Non-essential cookies — for example analytics cookies that tell us which pages are visited — are used only as permitted by applicable law and, where required, with your consent.
- We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to understand how the Website is used and to measure the performance of our advertising. Google processes this data on our behalf; see Google’s privacy information for details.
- These optional cookies are loaded only after you accept them. If you click “Reject non-essential”, no analytics or advertising cookies are set and no analytics requests are sent.
- You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking cookies does not prevent you from browsing the Website.
6. Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only as needed:
- Tour partners: licensed guides, drivers, transport suppliers, and local activity providers who deliver part of your tour. They receive only the information necessary to provide the service.
- Payment providers: PayPal or another processor used to collect payment and issue refunds.
- Booking platforms (OTAs): if you booked through Viator, GetYourGuide, or a similar platform, that platform is your contracting party for the booking and shares the necessary booking data with us; its own privacy policy also applies.
- IT and service providers: website hosting, email, and analytics providers acting on our instructions.
- Professional advisers and authorities: where necessary to comply with a legal obligation, a court order, or a lawful request from a public authority.
7. International Transfers
We are based in the Republic of Korea, and some of our service providers (for example Google, and payment or booking platforms) may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where personal data of individuals in the EEA is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards — in particular the European Commission’s adequacy decision for the Republic of Korea, and/or Standard Contractual Clauses with our providers. You may contact us for more information about the safeguards we use.
8. How Long We Keep Your Data
- Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Booking and tour records: kept while the tour is active and afterwards for the period required for accounting, tax, warranty, and legal-claim purposes (generally up to 5 years).
- Marketing consent records: kept until you withdraw consent, plus a short period to prove the withdrawal.
- Website analytics data: kept for the retention period configured in Google Analytics (normally up to 14 months).
9. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”), where no legal obligation requires us to keep it
- Restrict or object to processing, including processing based on legitimate interests and direct marketing
- Data portability — receive data you provided in a structured, machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the EU/EEA, the data protection authority of your country of residence, place of work, or where the alleged infringement occurred; in Korea, the Personal Information Protection Commission)
To exercise any of these rights, email us at thisiskoreabb@gmail.com. We may ask you to verify your identity before we act. We normally respond within one month, and we will tell you if we need more time.
10. How We Protect Your Data
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against accidental or unlawful loss, alteration, disclosure, or access. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), access restrictions on our systems and accounts, and limiting access to personal data to staff and partners who need it for their work. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to notify you and the competent authority where a breach is likely to result in a risk to your rights, as required by law.
11. Children
Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 (or the minimum age in your country) without the consent of a parent or guardian. Children may travel with us as part of a family or group booking made by an adult. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Links to Other Websites
Our Website links to external sites and platforms, including our interactive itinerary pages, social media pages, review platforms, and booking partners. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their privacy policies before providing personal data.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our services, technology, or legal requirements. The current version is always published on this page together with the date it was last updated. Where the changes are material, we will provide a clearer notice on the Website.
