Ni Hao! Let’s explore little China seated within Incheon where you can find so many things to see, and of course to eat! Korea’s only Chinatown, and also the largest one, Incheon’s China Town features an 11-meter high Chinese style gateway or paifang. Back then, space is intended for trading Chinese goods, where stores and restaurant were of great numbers. Now, Incheon Chinatown is a settlement of the descendants of those Chinese dwellers in the past, and is a haven of commerce and China’s flavors and traditions, preserving the rich culture of the past. Chinese buildings are everywhere, which somehow reminds us of a Kung Fu film setting. This is also the place where Jajangmyeon, also one of Korea’s best favorite, first originated. Its no wonder why a lot of restaurants sell this food. You can also buy Chinese fortune cookies, that would give you cool hints of what’s coming ahead, and jipangyi, a popular cane ice cream that is absolutely delicious and a fun way to enjoy your typical ice cream.
Fangirl alert! When it comes to Pop culture, Incheon’s China town was also featured in several television shows, and the most popular one is EXO’s Showtime (a variety show of Korea’s most famous boy group produced by MBC) back in 2013, where the boys are featured eating and exploring some of the restaurants and shops here in Incheon’s China town.
You can also visit lots of historical museums, freedom park, beautiful cafes, and Fairytale town nearby.
