Spirited Garden Description
Bunjae Arpia was the original name of Spirited Garden. It was renamed in 2007 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the garden and to renew it as an international garden. Hundreds of potted plants are located in Nature Garden with a theme of oreum and water.
The idea for the garden was was first planted in the mind of Sung Bum Young in 1963. He first came to Jeju in 1963 to visit a friend. He returned to Jeju in 1968 and bought some land. The land was full of rocks, had no electricity, and had no running water at that time. Mr. Sung was undeterred and started to make his vision a reality. The locals at the time thought he was a madman. He put his blood, sweat, and tears into making the garden and even had a couple of surgeries in the process.
The garden came into the spotlight on a global scale when China’s former president, Jiang Zhemin visited the garden. Subsequently, it has become a popular destination for Chinese government members. It has since then become a world famous garden and attracts visitors from all over the world. Amazingly, Mr. Sung is still the director and still tends to the garden. He believes that is work is yet to be finished.

Admission Fees
Adults: 10,000KRW
Seniors (ages 65+) & middle/high school students: 8,000KRW
Children (ages 3 to elementary school students): 6,000KRW
