Yeongdeok Crab Village Description

Yeongdeok Crab Village is located in the east sea in Gyeongsangbuk-do. This area s famous for its classical scholars, and its wonderful mountain and ocean scenery.

The traditional fishery village is the home of Yeongdeok snow crab. The crabs here have been well known dating back to the Goryeo Dynsasty. The crabs are large and delicious and are a must try. A huge street for snow crabs is located in the village. The street is packed with around 100 shops selling crabs along the Gangguan Port.

November is the beginning of the snow crab season and ends in May. There is a crab festival that takes place annually at the end of March / beginning of April. Be sure to check exact dates because they vary year to year. Visitors from all over the world flock to the village eager to try Yeongdeok snow crabs. In addition, the location of the village gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy one of the most beautiful sea roads in Korea.  A sea fishing site, beaches, and water resort venues are also located in the area.
