On July 20, 2020, a baby panda was born at Everland Zoo. The father bear is Le Bao and the mother bear is Ai Bao, the baby panda quickly won the hearts of Korean people. The bear’s name was named “Fubao” (meaning treasure that brings happiness) through a referendum.
Ai Bao and Le Bao are a pair of pandas sent to Korea by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2016 as a rental. South Korea must pay China 1 million dollars (1.3 billion won) annually in the name of a panda conservation fund. At that time, South Korea and China agreed to a 15-year lease, and if all goes according to plan, FuBao’s parents could return to China in March 2031.
As for the baby panda Fubao, the reason for returning to China is due to breeding conditions. There are currently only about 1,800 pandas left in the world, so China is applying special management measures. According to Mr. Kang Chul Won, who takes care of pandas in Everland, explained: “Pandas will mature from the age of 4 (the age of the pair) and must meet friends of the opposite sex. But in Korea, there are only fathers and Fubao’s mother, the panda, will go to China to meet her mate. So when Fubao repatriates, the possibility of returning to Korea is very small.
When you go to Everland amusement park, if you want to meet a panda without registering in advance, you have to line up hundreds of meters long before it’s your turn.

Everland is more than just a theme park. There’s a zoo/safari where you can meet animals outside of cages. Most rides have a >60 min wait even on regular weekdays.
Worth going, but you definitely need more than 1 day if you want to properly cover the whole park, especially if you are taking young children or elderly.
Download the app beforehand, get there early, and be strategic (according to your personal interests) with the slot booking for the attractions that can be booked (currently there are 4).
It’s a great place for shopping, but there are so many people and the facilities are so crowded that I doubt my life. 😅

place is fun !! Can’t believe it’s animal + theme park. Best to have the fun in 2 days as you can’t explore it in 1 day. Lots of climbing as the theme park is made from mountain. Rides were also fast as the service was done quickly even though the waiting time says 40mins. Although, the t express needed to queue for 80mins (everyone was so daring and brave!) ✨ It’s easy to get lost in the theme park so just explore the place and don’t stress over the map as everything is quite fun
The park is very good, very cute merch, a lot of different restaurants and snacks. They could explain better the system of smart queue.
A good vacation spot, especially when it’s autumn, it’s really fun
