lovely, peaceful place in the middle of Seoul
one of the must-visit attractions in Seoul
Cheonggyecheon Stream in the heart of the magnificent city of Seoul. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Located in the heart of dynamic Seoul is the poetic Cheonggyecheon stream, carrying within itself the ups and downs of Korea’s times. With a length of nearly 6km, the stream is a testament to the determination to turn the seemingly impossible into possible. This $900 million project first faced a lot of criticism from the public. However, after completion in 2005, Cheonggyecheon stream has become a favorite place for both city residents and tourists from all over. The stream brings cool, fresh air to the surrounding area with an average temperature range about 3 – 4 °C lower than other areas.
Cheonggyecheon stream – has the Vietnamese name Thanh Khe Xuyen. The artificial stream was formerly a natural stream that has existed since the Joseon Dynasty. However, with the policy of promoting economic development and urbanization, the Seoul capital government decided to fill this stream for infrastructure development in the late 1950s. And after two decades of Concreted, the Cheonggye Expressway was built on the flow of this stream. But gradually, people could not stand the stuffiness, heat, and noise right in the middle of the city, so in 2005, Cheonggyecheon stream was restored. Get water from treated city wastewater. Despite facing many difficulties and receiving harsh criticism from the community, in the end, the Cheonggyecheon stream was still restored. Become a cool stream like a row of peach silk running across the city.
For Korean people, Cheonggyecheon stream is like an endless source of life because it has undergone many changes but still exists sustainably over time. Up to now, Cheonggyecheon artificial stream has become a famous place attracting many tourists to visit and learn about this place.
The stream not only has symbolic significance but also helps regulate the air and bring coolness to the people of the capital. There are a total of 22 bridges connecting the two banks of the stream. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is also the biggest holiday season for Koreans, along both sides of the stream are splendidly decorated with many brilliant lanterns at night and the moon is bright.
Wandering along the Cheonggyecheon stream and always dreaming, even though I know that “Dreams are just dreams”, I wish Saigon would have a cool, clear stream flowing around the heart of the city for people and tourists to wander around. Tourists come to cool down on hot days… Because Saigon still has black canals.
It’s a beautiful place in nighttime
Very colourful water fall and flowing stream within high rise buildings
Great little public park / river promenade. Lots of artfully arranged greenery, bridges, and waterfalls.
River with clear water and lots of international and domestic tourists
In the bustling center of Seoul, there is a scenic spot where you can stop and put down your itinerary for a short stay. Walking along the stream bank, the beautification and greening work is very successful. From time to time, there are small fish swimming in the clear stream and pigeons that are not afraid of people. Begging for food forms a strong contrast with the surrounding commercial buildings
I loved here, can be well relaxing and they play live music even on beautiful September evenings. 😌
You are in the middle of a huge city and still in the countryside
Great place to sit and relax for sometime. We can put our feet in the water stream and enjoy reading a book.
Nice garden to walk around and learn something new about the history.
