Changdeokgung Palace was the second palace to be built shortly after Gyeongbokgung Palace. Changdepkgung Palace was built in 1405. Changdeokgung Palace was the home to many kings during the Joseon Dynasty. Changdeokgung is the most well preserved palace of the remaining Joeseon Era palaces.Like Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace was also burned down in 1592, but not by the Japanese. The palace was burned down by citizens who were angered by the fact that the royal family fled during the invasion by the Japanese. The palace was restored in 1611 and is designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. When it comes to tours in Seoul, Changdeokgung Palace might not be as grand or popular as Gyeongbokgung Palace, but Changdeokgung Palace is home to the Huwon Secret Garden. Separate tours of Huwon Secret Garden are offered on site.
