South Chungcheong
(Chungcheongnam-do)

Located in the mid western part of Republic of Korea, Chungcheongnam-do is mostly composed of plains. It is a vital transportation hub where the railways and highways connecting Seoul with major cities in the southern region cross here. Top inland tourist destinations include Gyeryongsan National Park, the Independence Hall of Korea, and Hyeonchungsa Temple, while popular coastal sites include the Taeanhaean National Park, lined with Mallipo and Kkotji Beaches, and the Anmyeondo Recreational Forest. Also, the famous Boryeong Mud Festival takes place at Daecheon Beach every summer. Finally, Chungcheongnam-do offers a variety of modern hot springs facilities, including Resom Spa Castle, Resom Ocean Castle, and Asan Spavis.
